Do you know what this is? And how does it relate to a membership site? Read on to find out.

Hint: If you’re a bald man, you probably have no use for it.

However, if you’re a woman, or you have daughters, or I guess even if you’re a man, who has thick lustrous hair, you must go to the hardware store immediately and purchase one.

Seriously, you’ll thank me.

Hair going down the shower drain was a big problem in my house for years.

The flow of water out of the showers in our house would get slower, and slower, and slower… until finally one day, you’d be standing in a shower with water up to your ankles because the exiting water simply couldn’t find its way through the nasty hair clog that was somewhere deep down in the pipes.

Gross, right?

In one particularly irritating instance, I could not find ANYTHING that would bust through the clog. I even tried this awful substance that the guy at the store recommended that made the whole house stink like sulfur for days… and yes, I’m sure that was NOT the environmentally-friendly approach, but I was desperate.

I really thought I was going to have to call a plumber.

I was explaining/whining to a friend about the predicament when she described a tool that she uses at her house. It’s a skinny, plastic wand thing with teeth, that reaches down into the drain and pulls out the hair.

I couldn’t get to the store fast enough to buy one… and guess what?

The problem that had plagued my family for years… gone in about 30 seconds… it will NEVER be a problem for me again… and I didn’t have to call in an expensive plumber.

That was a magical moment.

It’s funny sometimes how we tolerate problems in our memberships this way, too, without ever realizing there could be a fix that is far simpler than we ever could have imagined.

Perhaps you’re experiencing some of these challenges?

  • People saying that they like what you’re doing, but still not joining

  • Tech headaches that you tolerate because you have no time to sit down and figure out an alternative

  • An onboarding process that isn’t quite right, leaving people confused about what to expect or how to engage

  • A feeling that you’re investing more time and money into your membership than it’s actually worth

The truth is that we probably all have some nasty ankle-deep water somewhere in our memberships that we could easily clear up. We just need someone to point us to the right tool.

Is this something that's resonated with you.  Share your thoughts in the comments.
